Writers’ Workshops

     When I was eleven – and working on my first novel – my parents started a business. Like it or not, the business became a part of our everyday lives. So I grew up listening to the trials and tribulations of owning a small business. At nineteen, I began working for the family business and my dreams of being a writer got put on hold. One of my parents’ business philosophies was that everyone started at the bottom and worked their way up. I hated it at the time, but later saw their wisdom.

     By the time I became president of the company, I had worked in every area. Some areas more than others—I wasn’t good at fixing equipment and, for everyone’s benefit, I didn’t spend much time in that department. The experience gave me a knowledge and an appreciation of each position in the company. So when I purchased the business from my parents and became the CEO, I understood my company inside and out, helping me grow my business and find success.

     From my twenty-five plus years of practical business experience, I have designed three workshops to help demystify the business side of writing. A little bit of business know-how can help propel you and your writing to a new level.
